Project Re-Swatch

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

As June is steadily approaching, I figured it's time to do some cleaning on the blog. I'm not going to delete any posts, but I am going to do some better swatching. I was looking at my older swatches and I can honestly say that I am embarrassed by the way some of my earlier swatches look. That's where Project Re-Swatch comes in! This June, I will re swatch all of my old, crappy swatches and post them either every other day, or every 2 days.

Here is the list of colors I plan on swatching:
OPI Play the Peonies
OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender
OPI I Vant to be A-Lone Star
Essie Size Matters
Essie Raise Awareness
OPI Ink.
OPI Mermaid's Tears
OPI Silver Shatter
Orly Oui
China Glaze Holly-Day
China Glaze Champagne Bubbles
China Glaze Poinsettia
China Glaze Poetic
OPI Honk If You Love OPI
OPI Russian Navy Matte with a top coat
Julep Maria
OPI Dulce De Leche
Essie Cute As A Button

COMPLETED!!

This is going to be a long month! My goal is to eventually swatch everything in my collection. July may have to be another project month.

"Its the golden ticket!"

Saturday, May 5, 2012

Ashley - Ellie - Nessa - Sheryl - Sarah - Kylie (magnetic) - Fina

My mom woke me up and brought my maven box in to show me saying "you have the golden ticket". I opened my eyes and shot up looking for my glasses lol. She was holding a gold Julep Maven box. That only means one thing. Mind you, she has no idea what the golden box means, she just pointed out the box was gold. Each month Julep upgrades 100 maven boxes to a golden box. No one knows who is going to get it, so its a surprise! Usually the golden boxes are worth at least $100. Inside my box was each of the products that was included in the Maven boxes.

To be honest, I suspected it in the back of my mind after I read "shipping times vary on weight", and my box had been missing since the 29th. I figured my luck couldn't possible be that great. Thank you life in proving myself wrong in a good way.

Julep is having issues with defective brushes lately. These are my brush results:

Brushes that are wonky: Ashley, Sheryl, Kylie, Fina
Brushes that are good: Ellie, Nessa, Serah
On to the pictures!!

Clearance???

Friday, May 4, 2012

Do you check the clearance beauty section?

If not, you should! I found these little beauties amidst the clutter of beauty rejects. This is my second time finding Essie in those bins. First it was French Affair. Love love love to this day!

First is Wicked, which is this deep blood red color that will be perfect for fall. I only have one dark red, and that's OPI Lincoln Park After Dark which usually comes off as black. Wicked was originally $7.99 and was reduced to $2.06. You can tell it was used just by looking at the cap.

Next is Vermillionaire, this bright pinkish orange. This color was originally $7.79 and was dropped to $1.96. This one you can also tell was used. Someone made a mess of the inside. Neither of them have crazy amounts of product missing, and to be honest, you can hardly tell they were used. I assume they were swatched, rejected, and returned. That's perfectly fine, makes me happy!

Moral of the story: Check the clearance area!!!

This is 100% true to color. Corals, oranges, and brights are so hard so hard to capture the true color of the actual product. Natural light, as you can see above, makes it look way too red as well as my fluorescent light that I use for indoor pictures. I was playing with my settings, and I found one that worked. I switched on the Incandescent setting on my camera that I had never used before, and viola! Perfect. Please excuse the odd blue light. The TV was on, as I took this picture in my bedroom while my hubby was watching Avatar. Regardless, I am so glad it captured the right color.
