Some talk

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Well, I just spent a good part of the last hour updating the layout of the blog. I like it!!! I may make the background more pink, but we shall see. I like the lack of color. It makes the focus more on the nail polish, which is where it ought to be.

In blabber type news, I lost my Seche Vite..... in my house..... in my bedroom.. I think. Seriously, I am in the process of tidying up, reorganizing, and just plain cleaning in there. As tradition would hold true, something i love near and dear would magically poof. *sigh* Looks like I need to go out and buy a new one. Currently I am going on an anit-top code binge. The OPI top coat makes me mad. I always bubbles on me! No matter now long I wait, if that color is just a teensy bit wet, it will bubble. I don't like it.... Nope, not one bit.

I more off of the nail topic news I can't WAIT for my refund for my school to come in. Spencer is getting breaks for his truck, my trip to North Carolina will be payed for, I will have money to buy a chunk of the new OPI Holland collection, and I think I will treat myself to a new purse. I used to be a purse addict, but my dislike of Vera Bradley (the designer I lived in during high school) has grown and I need non-Vera purses. I am currently up to 2. A Nine West I LOVE and bought a few months ago, and a huge Converse bag that I got my senior year of HS. It hold my school stuff nicely. Oh babble.

I also think I am going to dabble into some off topic reviews!!! I am using this new foundation that I am in LOVE with. It's nothing fancy, but oh my goodness is it doing my skin wonders. I always heard Neutrogena was one of the best at skin clearing acne (I have very, very oily skin. As in it does not get dry during really cold northern winter weather). I decided to trust this and buy this gem: SkinClearing Liquid Foundation. It makes me smile =). I don't know if I will actually do a review, it depends. I still have soooo many nail polish posts to do. It just depends I suppose.

So this post isn't all words, let me grace you with some bunny photos.

Till next time, toodles!!!!

ETA: The rabbits in this picture are the same ones as the one in this video: http://polishadore.blogspot.com/2011/12/just-little-comething-to-brighten-your.html

Their names are Ashelia, Yuffie, and Penelo. <-- I'm such a nerd!

Zoya Jules - Swatch

I don't know what's up with the online color, that is not how mine looks. The colors below are true to how my bottle looks. Here's the Zoya link for the color: http://www.zoya.com/content/38/item/Zoya/Zoya-Nail-Polish-Jules.html.

To me, this isn't much of a gold. In yesterdays post I mentioned that I'm not a gold girl, but this one isn't very gold to me. It's that yellow gold I don't like. This color, though, I like.

Sorry about the tip wear, I didn't get a chance to take outside pictures until yesterday.

Babble Babble

Monday, January 30, 2012

First off, I have done the swatches! Yaaaaay. I took a break from adding the names and such to just talk about stuff. I don't know, I just felt like making a post like this. I wont be saying anything in the comparison posts, so I figured that I'd just say it all here and then link it. Is that ok? Does it make sense? I don't know, I only look at pictures. I don't pay too much attention to the nail bloggers words unless it's not a swatch or comparison. Here I am, going on and on about the colors. Sometimes, not always though.

I have a follower! Yes, just one. I am so happy! I noticed this a while ago, but I just now decided to say something. Why is this a good thing? I feel like I'm finally talking to someone! I'm actually not talking to myself, which is always a good thing. So, hi my one follower. Thanks! Anything you would like to see?? Now I'm just being creepy... On to the nail polish babble. Sorry about that.. =) I added a little sneak preview of them! That's nice, right?

The bottle I'm holding is Julep Maria. Maria on top, Poetic on the bottom.
The first one I'm posting is the Julep Maria and China Glaze Poetic. First off, Maria is more pink where Poetic is more copper. The metallic part of them is basically the same. It's actually kind of obvious when you compare the two in a swatch, not so much putting the bottles together.

This one was supposed to be the Zoya Mia and OPI Sparrow Me The Drama comparison, but it turned into a Mia, SMTD, and OPI Dulce De Leche comparison. Here, DDL is on top with Mia on the bottom. I have SMTD on my pinky, but you'll see that when I do a better comparison. SMTD really isn't like the other two at all, I don't know what I was thinking. Mia is more pink, where DDL is kind of more coffee-ish? I'm not sure how to describe it.

Enough babble!!! Back to the naming.

My first Julep Box!!!

Sunday, January 29, 2012

I was so excited when I saw it was here!!!

My dog is so nosey. She sat there the entire time I was going through the box.

My box was American Beauty, and I got Maria and Anne. Maria reminds me a lot of Poetic by China Glaze. I may have to do a swatch tomorrow on the two. Anne is that rich royal purple that I don't have yet. I'm excited to own it!

I like this hand creme. It's really soft.

I think I will continue to get these boxes. For a little while anyway. I opted out of this last one. The gold, Oscar, I didn't care for it. I'm not a huge fan of gold.

So Much Zoya

I went to Ulta, only planned on buying 2, that obviously didn't happen. I originally picked up Kristen, Miley, and Mia. I planned to choose 2 out of the 3. I then caved and wanted them both. I know, naughty me. I then spotted someone peaking at the clearance section. I went over there, and saw Gemma and Renee on sale for 3.99. Yup, I caved again and got them both. Not an interesting story, but a story none the less. Or is it nonetheless? I have no idea....

Left to right: Renee, Miley, Mia, Gemma, and Kristen.

I put Mia on first, and immediately I can see a resemblance to OPI Sparrow Me The Drama. Expect a comparison with those.

I suppose that is it. Till next time, toodles!

An older haul, and an update.

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

I can't believe it seems like I haven't blogged in ages! Like I said in an earlier post, I have posts lined up, I just need to get them ready. I've been so busy with school, work, rabbits (big stresser lately),and life, and I haven't had the want to blog. I've been in a funk, and I think this weekend I'll start to grow out of it. I'm just so tired all the time. Sheesh. I need to start working out to prevent this from happening. In the mean time, I have an older haul to show you guys.

I was so worried that Orly would fall in the pool!!

Ok, here we have 3 China Glaze which are Ruby Pumps, Dorothy Who?, and Frost Bite. These came in a little holiday collection box thing. It came with the cork pictured. Ruby Pumps have been sold out for a while, but I picked up this box for $5.99 at Sally's!!! Yay! I was pleased. I actually did a french tip with the blues, which I will show you in another post ;-) Then another one with Ruby Pumps and Essie Size Matters. That I didn't get a picture of, but it was the exact same concept.

On to the OPI's. Lincoln Park After Dark, which I may or may not swatch. It's a dark red, that looks black with 2 coats. Nothing much to it, it's exactly what I expected. The other one is Honk If You Love OPI. I LOVE this color! It looks just like it does in the bottle, and I already swatched it below.

The Orly is Sweet Blush which I got because I'm not too keen on Sugar daddy any more for the french manicure anymore.

Ok, I think I'm done for tonight. I have another haul that I need to take pictures of, I have plans for that on Friday, it's a Zoya only haul. I was sooooo happy when I went to Ulta!!!

Enough babbling, I am OUT! Toodles. Also, expect some bunny pictures soon =P

Battle of the Pinks

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

The last three are all the pinks of that particular shade that I own. I wanted to make a comparison of these three. The OPI one was thrown in there half as a filler, and the other half because they look somewhat similar in the bottle, but not on the nails.

Top to bottom: OPI SMTD, Essie Raise Awareness, Essie French Affair, CG Go Go Pink

I have become lazy

Friday, January 13, 2012

^^ 'Cause that's new! Seriously though, I have 6 groups of pictures that I have panned to go into a blog post... Yeah. One of them is a little mini haul, which I haven't added the little watermark thing to, 2 swatches (going to be 3 when I do the one I just panted) which also haven't been watermarked/cropped/pretty-fied, and then a comparison that I need to redo. <-- It's a comparison of pinks and I totally forgot which one was which. 2 of them are that close! I have stuff to blog about, I just keep getting distracted by other things on the internet.

I think today is going to be a bit of a more personal post. First off I want to talk about the hunger games collection which I spotted on the CG website, and it is non-existent now. Don't worry, I got screen shots!

The names aren't listed, and I couldn't click on it to go to another page. It was there though! I'm not making it up I swear.

Now on to the Electropop collection:

Yes, more of my wonderful screen shots. I really like Kinetic Candy, Electric Beat, and the ones in the bottom row.

That's all i have for today. I'm really tired. I should bring something better to the blog tomorrow.  Gosh this post was useless.

OPI - Russian Navy Matte

Monday, January 9, 2012

I love applying this color. It opaque, and dries in seconds. It's a really nice "I need to leave right this minute" color. I had both hands done in 10 minutes. My issues with this color, which isn't obvious in the pictures, is how much it stains my fingers. It was pretty bad. I spent a good 45 minutes with a nail file (it was on the edge of my nail) and a nail clipper to scrape it off. It was pretty bad. Also, it went went satin over night. It make sense, all of the oils in my hands went on my nails and altered it. Not too bad though. It didn't chip as bad as I expected, which is a major plus!

Remember, no base or top coat for this one.

I picked up this one at Publix for $7.89. I love Publix.

Essie Play Date - Swatch/Review

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Quick review: Very pretty purple. Play Date is part of Essie's 2012 Go Overboard collection along with 2 other colors that I intend on picking up eventually. It's a nice light purple, not too dark or too light, but does have a hint of pink in it. Definitely in the middle of Essie French Affair (which is on the pinker side) and OPI Planks A Lot (which is more purple).

Application was good, it required a second coat to get the color you see above.

I'm thinking about swatching my nail polish as I wear it. I wont review the colors, I'll just be stating the name of the color, and then have a few pictures of it.

Hope 2012 is treating you well so far! For me, it's not doing so well. Hopefully it'll get better though.

Orly Androgynie

Sunday, January 1, 2012

Adrogynie is part of the 2011 Holiday SoreĆ© collection that Orly released not too long ago.  I originally thought the black would be more clear than it was, but it really wasn't so bad. It took 2 coats to become opaque, and it didn't cover up the glitter and flakies that the previous coat had, which is niiice!

There are several different colored glitters in this mix. As with most glitters, it looks much nicer in natural sunlight, where the colors just shine through. The wear was iffy, this was taken after only a few hours worth of tip wear. This was also the second time I applied this color. The first time it only took about an hour for a nice sized chip to appear on my left thumb.

Removal: Not as bad as a normal glitter nail polish, but still a pain. I find that the flakies have a tendency to stay on my nail after the varnish is removed. I used a base coat, but apparently it wasn't enough. It didn't stay on for long, just a little bit of extra scrubbing with the cotton ball, and it came off eventually.

Overall, I would say it's a good buy. I haven't seen anything like this color, and it is very pretty to have. Just not great for long wear.

Hope you had a great new years. Toodles!
